Four intrepid birders participated in the weekly Tiadaghton Audubon Society's Saturday bird walk, this time from the Darling Run Access to Pine Creek at Ansonia, PA. We began with overcast conditions but halfway through the walk had to endure light cold rain as well, temperatures in the 40s. Despite the weather, some 36 species of birds were found during the 2-hour walk. Highlights include an adult bald eagle that dropped into Pine Creek after prey, an osprey on nest, several common mergansers, spotted sandpiper, and a handful of warblers, including pine, common yellowthroat, myrtle, black-and-white, and American redstart (observed by two of us enduring rainy faces/lens!). A few white-throated sparrows were also found, one singing it's "Old Sam Peabody Peabody Peabody" song. Cliff swallows were not observed near the Route 6 bridge where they nest every year. See attached photos for some of these birds. Bob Ross, leader and photographer.
